Mrs. Gerry’s Kitchen, Inc, is a leading manufacturer in the Midwest of prepared salads, and sides. We are seeking a full time Chef - Product Developer to join our growing team.
Completion of formal training at a culinary school preferred.
2-5 years related experience and/or training. Knowledge in food science, nutrition, labeling regulations, ingredient functionality and food processing.
Must be familiar with food safety standards and be self-motivated.
Must have problem solving skills, be able to multi-task and be a team player. Computer experience in using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
Develop new products, line extensions, and private label products; revise existing products, as needed; conduct shelf life studies; develop serving suggestions, research ingredient substitutions; conduct product cuttings; and investigate cost effective manufacturing, etc.
Make sure that the hygiene and food safety standards are placed as a top priority throughout all stages of food preparation
Work with Quality Control, Project Manager and production to run plant trials and validation runs of new products.
All other duties as assigned.
